Guidance Counselors
As guidance counselors, you are typically the first (and sometimes the only) resource to which families have access. At College Planning Associates, we dovetail the planning and services that you provide to your students and their family. By addressing the family’s financial situation and assisting them through the financial aid process we create a strategy that will complement and be appropriate to, the other financial aspects of their lives. We estimate their expected family contribution (EFC) and examine their other financial resources. Then we can help them set a college budget, implement a savings program, apply and obtain aid and compare the aid packages of the various schools they are applying to.
As you know, there are many factors that go into the college planning process. The family needs to have a budget and a strategy to make sure that they understand the impact that college selection and payment options can have on the family’s financial situation. Families with multiple students especially need to have short and long-term strategies in place to enable them to provide the same level of support to all of the children, should they desire to do so.
